Renee Olson Scholarship

This memorial scholarship fund was established by NAOBI - Atlanta to honor the memory and service of our former President, Shaunta Renee Olson.  Renee, as she was affectionately known, served as president from 2008 until her untimely death in 2010.  Under Renee’s leadership, strategy planning and vision philosophy, the organization was revitalized after a few of years of dormancy.  During this period, the following were accomplished and established:

  1. Membership increased from 33 in 2008 to 87 in 2010.

  2. Established a Professional Development Committee, which became a major focus of the organization, thus providing a study and practice forum for students and interpreters.  Several interpreters have since received their local and/or national certifications.

  3. Hosted several focused workshops.

  4. Hosted collaborative workshops with NAOBI, Inc. and GaRID.

  5. Hosted Annual Summer picnics in collaboration with ABDA.

  6. Hosted the Annual Holiday Party.
